Wedding One: a bit nervous..

So, I just got home from a hectic day of driving around and eating lots of Chinese food.
Couple months back, a friends cousin was engaged and the thought came to my friends mind 'hey! Kim can do the flowers' . And of course without much thought I said yes. The idea of doing a wedding solo and completing it within the time frame that I have outside of work is actually quite ludacris, but being the young naive junior I was at the time, it seemed like alot of fun. But after enduring 6 hours of wedding posies and wiring, the end result was well worth it.
Just a shout out to all first timers, its ALOT of work!! So boil some water and make some coffee first.
After a 3am wake up call to go to flower market, work and then home. I was finally able to start the wedding! and having all the flowers in my kitchen made me stop and think ' where the heck do I even start?'
So conditioning the flowers came first, strip thorns and leaves off, cut the stems. And into fresh water with a hint of vinegar. (Just for a good drink for the flowers)

... 216 roses, 3 buckets, 2 vases and 3 chinese containers later. My kitchen looked as if I was some crazy rose woman.

The Bride's bouquet had probably around 60 roses all up, with
privet berry and camelia .

Brides maids, 30 roses, privit and camelia.

There was a rose wand made for the flower girl, but she was nowhere to be seen during the day :-(

Six hours later.. Using the remaining time, I put myself into bed. Having my first wedding completed, it felt damn good!

D-Day. I was picked up and delivered with the flowers, I experienced a traditional Chinese wedding for the first time.
Intense day of driving around to the grooms house, bride's house, back to the groom's, to bicentennial park and the reception.
The whole day was intense Chinese, I don't think I've ever been surrounded by so many Chinese people in my life. It was like being forced to watch a foreign film without subtitles; you laugh when everyone else laughs, smile and nod at everything said to you and stare at inanimate objects to distract yourself.
Dinner was a banquet styled menu, set dishes were served at every table, little did I know that there were at least 12 different things brought out. So by the end of it my dress was getting a tad bit tight.
                                                                Kinda cheesy, but cute.

Oh rainy days

Oh rainy days. A wet and windy start to an aussie autumn. My Sunday was well spent partially in bed, and the other part was a bud ride up to the city to get some groceries. In dire need of food, my fridge consisted of asian preserved goods, sauces and old take-away (which should have been thrown out now that I think of it).

day 1

It is currently 12:39am on a (now) Saturday, and I am currently writing my first post to my new blog because I know very well that if I start customizing my template first, there wouldn't be the slightest chance that I would be bothered to type something up.
I am currently working as a florist in Sydney, and no I do not listen to classical music and smell roses all day. I prefer dancing to beyonce with my co-worker and smelling sweet pea instead :o)
Other than my love for my job, I also enjoy photography, both digital and film. I have a collection of film cameras, as well teapots, vases (I am a bit of a hoarder, shhhhh). And as a starter to my blog, heres a little example of whats to come.

this was my final assesment in flower school. My theme; Pincchio! who doesn't love a good vintage puppet.
